Background
Love and Truth is a Catholic association created to promote the human and spiritual dimensions of couples, families and youth. It presents marriage, human love and sexuality in a Christian light.
Love and Truth is an apostolic branch of the Emmanuel Community (Paris). The community is an Ecclesial Movement within the Catholic Church. It was recognised as a Universal Association of Christ Faithful on December 8, 1992.
Answering Pope John Paul's call, it transmits faithfully the teaching of the Church, showing that God's love is the source and foundation of family life, based on the experiences of many families, single people, doctors and priests.
Love and Truth was started in 1980, at the request of several bishops (from Belgium, Morocco and Mexico) who specifically asked the Emmanuel Community to open up more widely the training it was already providing its members to other couples, families and young people.
Since 1980 the Love and Truth apostolate has operated in diocese in Europe, Africa, the USA, South America, Japan, Eastern Europe, Russia and Australia.
The Bishop's Synod on the family and the apostolic encyclical Familiaris Consortio encouraged the development of this type of evangelistic ministry.
Since its inception Love and Truth has continued to extend and diversify its activites through many cultures - including Chinese, Mexican, Indian, African, Japanese, Indonesian, Russian and European cultures.
